Clinical psychologist Daria Yausheva said that childhood traumas, family attitudes, and experiences of emotional abuse often form the basis for the development of eating disorders.

In conversation with aif.ru On Monday, April 28, the specialist noted that the association of RPP with childhood injuries is quite common. Patterns of behavior in the family and attitudes passed down from generation to generation also play an essential role.

"An exceptionally thin body can be valued in a family, and attitudes of perfectionism and anxiety can flourish. All this can lead to the fact that a person begins to resort to food deprivation," explained Yausheva.

In addition, the development of such a disorder can be facilitated by classes in clubs and sports sections, especially during adolescence, for example, when practicing ballet or gymnastics, when excess weight can gain due to hormonal changes in the body.

In addition, attitudes such as "you should always finish eating" and "you should not throw away food" are often the result of intergenerational traumas associated with hunger.

Also, a person may begin to compensate with food for the lack of emotional care after experiencing physical or sexual violence.

"Excess weight can become a kind of "armor", a way to hide your sexuality and show: "I am not an object of desire," the expert added.

Inspired ideas like "you have to be slim to be loved," as well as a ban on expressing emotions and experiencing bullying, also play a significant role in the development of RPP.

In February, a valeologist, nutritionist Nadezhda Chernyshova told how to recognize RPP in a teenager. According to her, anorexia is characterized by a catastrophic decrease in food portions and a desire to exclude most foods from the diet. The doctor attributed her symptoms to the refusal to eat with her family, frequent statements about satiety and a sharp weight loss. Bulimia manifests itself in uncontrolled overeating, followed by attempts to induce vomiting, reports Pravda.Ru Bulimia most often appears due to a desire to control one's own life, especially if a teenager is severely restricted in other areas.

Also in February, Anastasia Kasyanenko, a psychologist at the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, called for comprehensive treatment of the disease, which could later have an even more negative impact on health. According to her, it is necessary to deal with hormones, mental health and the root cause, writes NSN.

At the same time, psychologist Margarita Alekseeva spoke about the signs of eating disorders in children. The first thing parents can pay attention to is that a teenager's weight is standing still. This is followed by constant conversations about food. It is also considered abnormal to study one's shortcomings for a long time in front of a mirror, notes 360.ru .

Earlier, Irina Mansurova, a nutritionist and medical psychologist at the Euroonko clinic, told Izvestia that RPP is a psychogenic disease that affects mainly women. It is usually accompanied by severe clinical depression.
