- The White House commented on the announcement of the truce of the Russian Federation in the days of the 80th anniversary of Victory.

US President Donald Trump wants the ceasefire in Ukraine to become permanent. This was announced on April 28 by White House press Secretary Caroline Leavitt, commenting on the truce announced by the Russian side in the days of the 80th anniversary of Victory.
"As I understand it, President [of Russia Vladimir] Putin announced a temporary ceasefire this morning. President [Trump] has made it clear that he wants to see a permanent cease—fire," the Reuters news agency quoted her as saying.
According to the press secretary, at the moment, the American president remains optimistic about the prospects for the end of hostilities. However, Leavitt clarified that the leaders of the countries should find a way to resolve the conflict through negotiations.
On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a truce in the days of the 80th anniversary of Victory from zero hours from 7 to 8 May to zero hours from 10 to 11 May. In addition, the Kremlin clarified that the Ukrainian side needs to follow the same example.
At the same time, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the temporary truce was a manifestation of Russia's goodwill. He noted that such actions underline the country's readiness to reach a peaceful settlement of the conflict.
