The skill of brewers is growing in Russia now. Kamal Lebedev, executive director of the beer and alcohol market association, told Izvestia about this on April 28.

"Today, Russian brands are emerging, while there is little trust in them, but this trust is increasing from year to year. Well, relatively speaking, the technology <...> and the skill of brewers are growing," he said.

According to him, the brewing movement needs to be coordinated and monitored. Lebedev believes that this should be done by entrepreneurs.

He also compared the chairman of the expert advisory council for the development of the brewing industry, Taimuraz Bolloev, with the public figure Pierre de Coubertin, who revived the Olympic movement. In his opinion, the president of the Baltika company has resumed Russian brewing.

Earlier, the development of this area was carried out back in 1972-1974, when the country's leadership decided to reduce the consumption of alcoholic beverages and "shift the center of gravity" of such products from strong drinks, such as vodka, to wine or beer, Lebedev added.

"And then quite a large number of so-called Czech breweries were acquired, that is, they were acquired in the Czech Republic. They were in every region, well, usually in the capital, or in a major city in the region. And in general, we now have breweries in all cities and regions," he said.

According to his data, there are currently over 2,000 breweries in Russia. There are about 200 large enterprises.

On the same day, Mikhail Khlynovsky, Director of Business Development at Magnum LLC, said that hop farming in Russia has good prospects. According to him, the state provides support to this area.

Earlier that day, it was reported that an expert advisory council for the development of the brewing industry had appeared in Russia on the initiative of Baltika. In the near future, the council intends to develop a common approach to addressing emerging challenges, as well as form proposals to change the current regulation of the beer and alcohol industry.

It is specified that Taimuraz Bolloev, President of Baltika, has become chairman of the expert advisory council for the development of the brewing industry. Besides him, Nikolai Tyurnikov, CEO of AB Inbev Efes, and Dmitry Kiselyov, Chairman of the Board of the Association of Winegrowers and Winemakers of Russia, also joined the board.
