Russian President Vladimir Putin has extended until September 10 the deadline for foreigners to legitimize their position in Russia. The relevant decree was posted on the website of the official publication of legal acts on April 28.

Thus, he amended paragraphs 1 and 10 of the decree "On interim measures to regulate the legal status of certain categories of foreign citizens and stateless persons of the Russian Federation in connection with the application of the expulsion regime."

Previously, foreigners had to legalize their position by April 30. It is noted that the decree will come into force from the date of signing.

The regime of expulsion for citizens illegally staying in the country began to be applied on February 5.

On February 4, the press service of the Russian Interior Ministry reported on the possibility of foreigners being included in the register of controlled persons, in particular, due to the expiration of their temporary stay in the country. It was specified that they would remain on the register until they were expelled, deported, or left Russia on their own, or until their legal status in the territory of the Russian Federation was settled.
