Kiev is trying to find a reason to reject the truce proposed by the Russian Federation in the days of the 80th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War. Alexey Chepa, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, told Izvestia on April 28.

Chepa recalled that Ukraine did not comply with the 30-day moratorium on strikes on energy facilities — it was recorded more than 100 times. According to him, measures that can be applied for violations of the moratorium have not yet been worked out.

"We also encountered this at Easter. I think they are looking for an excuse to abandon [the truce]. I think that, given the weak control of [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky is behind the armed forces, there may be provocations, provoked from different sides — both from Zelensky's team and without Zelensky's team," the deputy concluded.

On April 28, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared a truce in the days of the 80th anniversary of the Victory. It was specified that the Russian side would ensure a cease-fire from zero hours from 7 to 8 May to zero hours from 10 to 11 May.

On the same day, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga posted on Facebook (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation) that Kiev would be ready to support a long-term and complete ceasefire.

Also on April 28, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Zelensky's regime showed a lack of political will for peace and unwillingness to abandon the continuation of the conflict, which are supported by Russophobic circles in a number of EU countries.
