Experts warned about the fraud scheme on the eve of Victory Day

The attackers have come up with a new fraud scenario that uses the brand of the Defenders of the Fatherland state Foundation. This was reported to Izvestia on April 29 by experts from F6 (a developer of technologies to combat cybercrime).
Analysts at F6's Digital Risk protection department have discovered a new deception scenario on the eve of Victory Day. Scammers use the fund's brand to advertise investment fraud.
Scammers have created websites that post false messages about the launch of a "social project" offering to earn up to 30 million rubles "using the resources and capabilities of Russia." All these sites are designed according to a standard template. Users are offered to invest in shares of Russian companies. At the same time, the attackers posted fake comments on behalf of people who allegedly received large payments.
At the same time, scammers are asked to leave their full name and contact phone number for communication. As the experts explained, this is a standard scheme for an investment scam: after the victim provides his details on such a site, the attacker will call him, who will introduce himself as a personal manager. As a result, fraudsters can steal money that needs to be deposited under the pretext of buying shares.
In addition, to allegedly open a brokerage account, the user may be asked to install a mobile application, which in fact turns out to be malicious and will gain control over the device for debiting money from all accounts. In addition, under the pretext of verification, a person may be asked for a scanned passport to withdraw "income" from the investment platform. If you agree, this personal information will end up in the possession of intruders and can be used for other fraudulent attacks.
Experts have sent data from web resources that fraudsters use on behalf of the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation to the National Computer Incident Coordination Center. Now these sites are blocked in the Russian Federation.
"This is the first time we have recorded the use of the brand of the Defenders of the Fatherland State Fund in the investment campaign scenarios. The organizers of investment fraud schemes regularly try to play on patriotic themes. For example, in October last year, scammers created the websites of a non—existent organization, the Special Fund of the Military Industrial Complex, through which they offered to invest in the Russian defense industry," said Evgeny Egorov, a leading analyst at the Digital Risk Protection department of F6.
Earlier, on January 20, it was reported that the most common scenario of telephone fraud in 2024 was the proposal to allegedly extend the contract with the telecom operator. Scammers also often promised to issue or increase the benefits paid, increase the pension amount, or recalculate payments based on previously missed seniority or data. This follows from the data provided by Yandex.
