The expert noted a positive attitude towards the prospects of hop growing in Russia

Hop growing in Russia has good prospects. This was announced to Izvestia on April 28 by Mikhail Khlynovsky, Director of Business Development at Magnum LLC.
"The state supports hop growers and agricultural producers in general, so I have a positive attitude towards the prospects of hop farming," he said.
He clarified that previously the main hop growing region was Chuvashia. At the same time, the expert noted that the Chuvash cannot fill the full demand, therefore, other Russian regions are currently appearing on the market, including the Krasnodar Territory, the Chernozem Region and the Voronezh Region.
According to Khlynovsky, after 2007, there was a decrease in beer production for about 10 years, and later there was an increase again.
"Last year we (Russia. — Ed.) increased by 10% in beer. That is, it turns out that right now we have a kind of renaissance revival," Khlynovsky clarified.
He clarified that the new technology for growing hops was aimed at a granular form, which had previously been practically not used in the country. According to him, in particular, only bitter-flavored varieties were observed in Russia, including German-Czech producers.
"The distortion has passed, the areas of fragrant hops have begun to shrink. Bitter hops do not grow very well in Russia, but now we have adapted a little. Krasnodar Territory, it's warmer there, the growing season is longer, bitter hops can be grown there," Khlynovsky explained.
At the initiative of Baltika, an expert advisory council for the development of the brewing industry has appeared in Russia, the manufacturer's press service reported on April 28. It was clarified that the goal is to create favorable conditions for the development of the industry in the country.
The Chairman of the board was Taimuraz Bolloev, President of Baltika, and Nikolay Tyurnikov, CEO of AB Inbev Efes, and Dmitry Kiselyov, Chairman of the Board of the Association of Winegrowers and Winemakers of Russia.
