Western countries are implementing educational campaigns aimed at rewriting history and denying Russia's decisive contribution to victory in World War II. This was stated on April 28 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, at the scientific and practical conference "The criminal essence of fascism - past and present."

"So-called educational information campaigns are being conducted in the West, which deny our country's decisive contribution to the Great Victory. In fact, starting from Latvia and Estonia, which are adjacent to Pskov, what we call the "brown European Union" is being built there," TASS quoted her as saying.

She stressed that in this way the West is trying to legitimize neo-Nazism, which was the root cause of the conflict in Ukraine. Zakharova added that Russia considers it a priority to preserve historical truth and prevent the rewriting of history.

On April 8, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that attempts were being made in the West to belittle the role of the USSR in winning World War II and justify the crimes of the Nazis.
