A man died in a fire in a private house in one of the Pskov villages.

In the village of Palaces near Pskov, a 38-year-old man died as a result of a fire in a private house. An inspection has been organized, the regional SU of the Investigative Committee of Russia reports in its Telegram channel.

The fire occurred late on Sunday evening, April 27, in a private apartment building. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the body of the deceased was found during extinguishing.

The preliminary cause of the fire in the rescue department is called a violation of fire safety rules during the installation and operation of furnace heating. Seven people and three pieces of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire.

The Investigative Committee on the death of a person organized a check. According to the Pskov news feed, medical and fire-technical examinations have been appointed to establish the exact causes of human death and fire. Based on the results obtained, a decision will be made to initiate a criminal case.

As of April 8, 876 fires have occurred in the Pskov Region since the beginning of 2025, 703 of them due to careless handling of fire. As a result of the fires, 20 people died.
