- Matvienko commented on Putin's announcement of a truce in the days of the 80th anniversary of Victory.

If the Ukrainian authorities agree to the truce proposed by Russia, this does not mean that they will observe it. This was announced on April 28 by the Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko to journalist Pavel Zarubin.
"You can expect anything from the Ukrainian side. Even if they formally agree, it does not mean that they will observe this truce," she said.
According to the Federation Council speaker, this truce shows the Russian side's desire to achieve sustainable peace, as well as its willingness to negotiate with Ukraine.
On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a truce in the days of the 80th anniversary of Victory from zero hours from 7 to 8 May to zero hours from 10 to 11 May. In addition, the Kremlin clarified that the Ukrainian side needs to follow the same example.
