Residents of most of Spain and Portugal are facing massive power outages. This was reported on April 28 by the Bloomberg news agency, citing a statement from the country's government.

It clarifies that the outage affected the operation of public transport, power lines and telephone communications in some parts of Madrid, Barcelona and Lisbon. In addition, the metro was evacuated in Madrid. It is noted that the streets of large cities were quickly filled with local residents.

According to a government official, Spain's Canary and Balearic Islands are not affected by the power outage.

Sources familiar with the incident clarified that Spain has also set up a crisis committee to manage the situation. It is noted that the reason for the shutdown has not yet been established, while a cyberattack is not excluded from the list of versions. The Spanish authorities are currently working to determine the causes of the incident.

A large-scale blackout occurred on the Caribbean coast of Mexico on March 25, affecting popular resort areas, including the islands of Cozumel and Mujeres. It was clarified that Cancun, Bacalar, Tulum, Playa del Carmen, Puerto Morelos, Isla Mujeres and Cozumel remained without electricity. Due to the shutdown, there were difficulties in traffic, shops and daily activities.
