Reserve colonel announced Estonia's plans to modernize the army

Estonia needs to modernize the country's army, as Tallinn is not able to compete with Moscow in the field of technical equipment. This was announced on April 28 by the commander-in-chief of the reserve of the Estonian Defense Forces, Sten Reimann.
"Unfortunately, the technical competence of officers in Estonia is too low to participate in the technical race with Russia. This is something that definitely needs to be improved at the military school," the ERR publication quotes him.
According to him, Estonia needs to establish production of cruise missiles in order to have more means of influencing the battlefield. However, the colonel noted that at the moment this is available to Tallinn only within the framework of cooperation with other countries.
Reimann stressed that Estonia needs to cooperate with the Baltic states and the Nordic countries to establish missile production. In particular, according to him, the country is currently cooperating with Finland on this issue. The colonel clarified that the Estonian authorities "only recently" realized that this type of weapon can be produced independently.
It is noted that the main problems of the Baltic country on the way to its own production are the lack of experience, as well as certain legislative restrictions.
On April 23, the chief of the General Staff of the Estonian Defense Forces, Major General Vahur Karus, announced the country's plans to create a military base in the city of Narva bordering Russia, the newspaper reports.Ru». According to him, both active military personnel and conscripts will be stationed there. It was noted that at the initial stages the base will be designed for 200-250 military personnel.
