Sobyanin spoke about creating a barrier-free environment in renovation houses

A barrier—free environment is an essential element of renovation neighborhoods, stressed Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. All housing is built according to all standards and taking into account the real needs of specific families.

"A few years ago, a barrier-free environment in and around homes was rare. Today, this is a reality that we are creating systematically and with care for people with disabilities, the elderly and families with children," Sobyanin said in his Telegram channel.

The floors of the entrances and the elevator lobby of the new buildings are on the same level, without steps. There are wide corridors and doorways for those who use wheelchairs. There is a gentle slope and non—slip coating on the footpaths near the houses.

As part of the renovation program in Moscow, more than a thousand apartments have been equipped in 12 districts and 80 districts, adapted to the needs of citizens with special needs. More than 1.5 thousand people received such housing.
