The Republic of the Congo wants to join BRICS, as the unification projects may be interesting for the country. This was announced on April 28 by the President of the Republic of Congo Denis Sassou Nguesso in an interview with the agency "African Initiative".

"The BRICS projects, in our opinion, are interesting for Africa, and for our country in particular. We think that in this case, Congo will be ready to take its place in the BRICS," he said.

The President recalled that he had previously participated in some BRICS meetings, one of which was held in Russia. According to him, BRICS "opens doors" for other countries and can expand.

In addition, the head of state noted that he intends to develop cooperation with Russia. According to him, relations between the two countries are now "gaining momentum." Sassou Nguesso added that on May 9 he plans to attend a parade in Moscow in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Victory, as well as hold talks with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

Earlier, on April 3, the country's Minister of Hydrocarbons and Energy, Alejandro Gallardo, said that Bolivia was interested in becoming a full member of the BRICS. It was reported that following the results of the summit in Kazan, under the chairmanship of Russia, Bolivia received the status of a partner country.
