The ambulance team of anesthesiologist nurse Lilia Konovalova was one of the first to evacuate the wounded from Sudzha after the invasion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). The doctors told Izvestia about how they saved civilians on their professional holiday, April 28.

"I have 22 years of medical experience, I have never regretted becoming a doctor," Konovalova stressed.

Her colleague, Alexander Annenkov, an anesthesiologist and intensive care physician from Kursk, said that the wounded had to be taken out of the border areas of the Kursk region under constant shelling by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

"We also had to use tanks, we drove out in cars when the wounded were being taken out of Suji, and we also came under fire. In fact, for some reason you think about yourself last," he said.

On April 26, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated and thanked the personnel of the military units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation who took part in the defeat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region.

On the same day, the acting governor of the region, Alexander Khinshtein, announced that 808 people had been evacuated from the liberated territories of the Kursk Region since March.
