The All-Russian campaign "Peculiarities of national cleaning" was held in Buryatia. Its participants cleared several kilometers of the Baikal coast from garbage and on April 28 told about their work.

The event was organized by the Compass Foundation. The organizers named the education of ecological patriotism as one of the goals.

"This year, the promotion has updated its status. Now it's not just ecological, now it's ecopatriotic. Of course, this year it is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory [in the Great Patriotic War]. I am especially pleased that May 9th is coming soon. In Buryatia, defenders of the Fatherland joined us," said Tatiana Kovaleva, Director of the Compass Foundation.

It is noted that in 2025 the campaign will be held in 11 regions of Russia. Over the entire time it was held, more than 30 thousand people participated in it, who collected over 300 tons of garbage.

On March 24, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced that Russian regions would be able to receive subsidies for the creation of sewage treatment plants near Lake Baikal. He clarified that this initiative concerns two subjects — Buryatia and Irkutsk region.
