The number of counterfeit banknotes has increased fourfold in the Amur region

In the Amur region, 16 counterfeit banknotes were found in the first quarter of 2025. This is reported by IA PriamurMedia with reference to the regional branch of the Bank of Russia.

Compared to the same period in 2024, the number of fakes has increased fourfold. Basically, 5,000-ruble banknotes were withdrawn from circulation. In addition, two banknotes with a face value of 100 rubles were found.

Experts say that counterfeiters are more likely to forge large-denomination bills, so citizens should pay special attention to them. It is necessary to check the banknotes for at least four signs.

In Belgorod, at the beginning of the year, a man was convicted of making counterfeit money in the amount of 25 million rubles. The defendant was sent to a penal colony for 3.5 years.
