The media pointed to the Ukrainian Armed Forces' helplessness in front of Russian Tu-160M bombers

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) do not have effective means of countering the Russian Tu-160M supersonic bomber. This was reported by The National Interest (TNI) magazine.

It is specified that this aircraft is equipped with upgraded avionics, new NK-32 engines and modern weapons systems, including cruise missiles X-101/102 and hypersonic missiles X-47M2 "Dagger".

"As soon as mass production of the Tu-160M is established, it will have a huge impact on the outcome of the conflict in Ukraine, since Kiev does not have effective anti—bombing measures," the publication says.

In addition, TNI informed on April 23 that the Russian military-industrial complex, unlike the enterprises of NATO countries, is able to modernize aviation equipment, which provides additional strategic advantages.

At the same time, the improved version of the missile carrier will retain all the key characteristics of its basic Tu-160 model, which are actively used in the combat zone.

On March 11, Yuri Ignat, head of the Communications Department of the Ukrainian Air Force Command, said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces could not effectively counter Russian Su-35 fighters, even with the American F-16s supplied by Western countries. According to him, in order to counter Russian aircraft, Kiev needs an integrated approach, including ground-based air defense systems and electronic warfare systems.
