Svechnikov's hat trick helped Carolina beat New Jersey in the Stanley Cup match

The Carolina Hurricanes hockey club defeated the New Jersey Devils in the fourth match of the 1/8 finals of the National Hockey League (NHL) playoffs. The match took place on April 27 and ended with a score of 5:2.

Russian striker Andrey Svechnikov scored three goals for the winners (in the 1st, 21st, and 67th minutes), defenseman Jacob Slavin (in the 10th) and forward Jordan Martinuk (in the 55th) also scored a goal. Forwards Niko Hishir (on the 23rd) and Timo Mayer (on the 28th) scored for the Devils.

Following the game, Svechnikov became one of the top three scorers in the team's history in NHL playoff games. The Russian now has 41 points in the Stanley Cup.

HC Carolina beat New Jersey in the opening match of the first round of the NHL playoffs on April 20 with a score of 4:1. Logan Stankoven scored doubles for the winners (in the 27th and 34th minutes), Jaylen Chatfield (in the 3rd) and Russian forward Andrey Svechnikov (in the 58th) also scored goals. Among the New Jersey hockey players, Niko Hishir scored the puck (on the 39th).
