Information about the presence of Russian citizens among the victims of a hit-and-run in Vancouver is being established. This was announced on April 27 by the press service of the Russian Embassy in Canada.
"The Embassy is in constant contact with the Canadian authorities. Information about the presence of Russian citizens among the victims is being clarified," the press service said in a Telegram channel message.
In addition, the Russian diplomatic mission expressed its condolences to all the families and friends of those killed and injured in the incident.
The incident occurred on the evening of April 26 during the celebration of the Philippine Lapu-Lapu Day. The driver of the car was detained. Vancouver police said that, previously, hitting a car into a crowd was not a terrorist act.
Vancouver Police Chief Steve Rai said the death toll from a car hitting a crowd at the Lapu-Lapu festival has reached 11 people. The Canadian Global News channel, citing sources, clarified that there is a child among the victims of the accident. Six people were also injured.
