Developers lack more than 160 thousand employees


In Moscow, St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg there is a shortage of employees in the construction industry, market participants and recruiting services told Izvestia. At the beginning of the second quarter of 2025, employers in this sphere are looking for more than 160 thousand employees. In Moscow they are looking for more than 23 thousand people, in St. Petersburg - more than 12 thousand.
In the first quarter of this year the most in demand were specialists in construction and finishing works. The leaders in terms of vacancy growth rates were facade workers, the number of offers for whom increased 3.7 times year-on-year. Vacancies for tilers tripled, and for bricklayers - 2.3 times.
Almost doubled the demand for carpenters and foremen, reported in "Avito work".
The increased interest in specialists was also reflected in the level of remuneration. Thus, the average salary offer for facade workers increased by 20% to Br142 thousand, while for tilers - by 45% to Br166 thousand per month, for bricklayers - Br137.6 thousand per month.
Among the engineering and technical personnel in construction this year the most in demand are design engineers, engineers of production and technical department, manufacturers of construction and installation works, follows from the data of SuperJob service. Among the most demanded positions of skilled workers - electrician, electric and gas welder, plumber. At the same time, the salaries of engineering and technical personnel for the year increased by an average of 16.2%, and workers - by 14.1%.
