The Iranian Embassy in Russia expressed gratitude to Russia for sending Emergency Situations Ministry aircraft to help extinguish the fire in the port of Shahid Rajai. This was announced on April 27 by the republic's Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali.
"The support, cooperation and sympathy of the neighboring country of the Russian Federation reflect the depth of friendship and strategic cooperation between the two countries," he said in a message on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
Jalali also expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the incident.
On April 27, the Russian Embassy in Tehran announced that Russia would send several Emergency Situations Ministry aircraft to Iran to help extinguish the fire caused by the explosion at the Shahid Rajai seaport.
The explosion in the port occurred on April 26. The blast wave was so strong that it severely damaged most of the buildings in the port, as well as cars. There is no exact information about the causes of the explosion in Shahid Rajai yet. On April 27, 1,139 people were reported injured in the explosion, and the death toll increased to 40 on April 27. The Governor of Hormozgan, Mohammad Ashuri, declared three days of mourning in connection with the tragedy.
