The death toll from a car hitting a crowd in Vancouver has risen to 11.


The death toll from a car hitting a crowd at the Lapu-Lapu festival in the Canadian city of Vancouver has reached 11. This was announced on April 27 by Steve Rai, Deputy Chief of Police of the city.
"At the moment, 11 people have died," Rai said at a press conference.
He also added that the motive of the crime of the culprit of the accident remains unknown.
The incident occurred on the evening of April 26 during the celebration of the Philippine Lapu-Lapu Day. The driver of the car was detained. Vancouver police said that, previously, hitting a car into a crowd was not a terrorist act.
The Canadian Global News channel, citing sources, reported that there is a child among the victims of the accident. Six people were also injured.
On April 27, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney expressed his condolences to the relatives of those injured and killed when a car hit a crowd of people at the festival.
