- The military of the 22nd Motorized Rifle regiment told about the battles for the liberation of Gornal

After the liberation of the Kursk region, Russian fighters are engaged in creating a safe zone in the Sumy region. The commander of the 22nd Motorized Rifle regiment with the call sign Apostol spoke about the capture of the Gornal settlement and further tasks.
"Units of the 22nd Motorized Rifle Regiment continue to step up efforts in the Gornal settlement to carry out assault operations and create a safe zone in the Sumy region, approximately from 20 to 40 km," Apostol said.
According to the commander of the 22nd regiment, the Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters have set up quite seriously fortified positions in Gornali.
"During the assault operations, we opened more than one machine-gun bunker, more than one fortification dugout. Various sniper positions, and, accordingly, the weapons that were thrown by the enemy. <...> The enemy was building up quite serious efforts there, but given the fact that our troops were moving forward, there was no chance for the enemy to gain a foothold or at least take away the weapons and equipment that he had concentrated there. It was all destroyed and some of these weapons were "touched" by units of the 22nd Motorized Rifle Regiment," Apostol said.
He stressed that the liberation of the Kursk region was an emotional moment for the military. He noted the well-coordinated interaction of the units with the Marines of the 810th and 40th brigades, as well as the 177th regiment.
The chief of artillery of the 22nd Motorized Rifle Regiment with the call sign Pepel said that artillery crews are on duty around the clock and hit enemy targets, which are successfully detected by UAV operators.
"Mostly enemy artillery. Mortars, because they are in the range of our artillery. And large calibres and long—range artillery are hit by the senior chief," Pepel explained.
"The assault operations took place according to the so-called "gray" scheme, when the day cameras are not yet working properly, and the night cameras are not yet in operation. But there were also movements during the day," explained the assistant chief of the UAV service of the 22nd Motorized Rifle Regiment, call sign Pozhar.
He also spoke about the moment when the Russian flag was raised over the building in the liberated Gornal.
"Responsibility from the point of view of the UAV — it was hard to keep the bird. It was very stressful. When they put up the flag and realized that this was the last settlement that was occupied by the enemy, it was indescribable," Pozhar said.
On April 26, the head of the Russian General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, reported on the liberation of the last Kursk village of Gornal from the Ukrainian Armed Forces to Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to him, the total losses of the Ukrainian army in the Kursk area amounted to more than 76 thousand people. The Head of State congratulated and thanked the personnel of the military units of the Russian Armed Forces who took part in the defeat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region.
