Greenland is ready to cooperate with the United States, but it wants respect and will never be owned. This was announced on April 27 by Greenland's new Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen at a press conference in Copenhagen after talks with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen. The politician's words are quoted by TV2.

"We are ready for a strong partnership and further development. But we want respect. We will never, ever be a property that anyone can buy," Nielsen said.

Greenland is part of the Kingdom of Denmark, but in 2009 it gained autonomy with the possibility of self-government and independent choice in domestic politics.

Earlier, on March 30, Nielsen said that the United States would not get the island into its own hands. Nielsen urged Greenlanders not to be afraid of the statements of US President Donald Trump, but to respond to them with calmness, dignity and unity.
