The administration of US President Donald Trump is discussing possible options for resuming dialogue with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK). This was reported on April 27 by the Axios portal, citing sources.

"We are evaluating, diagnosing, and discussing potential avenues, including interaction," one U.S. official told Axios.

According to the newspaper, special attention is being paid to the possibility of a personal meeting between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

"At the moment, North Korea is relatively low on Trump's list of priorities, but the world's newest nuclear power rarely stays off the international agenda for long," the article said.

Andrew Yeo, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, stressed that Trump's positive statements about the North Korean leader in recent months indicate his interest in resuming contacts.

On March 31, Trump said he might make contact with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, and called their relationship excellent.
