Russian Emergencies Ministry aircraft involved in extinguishing wildfires in Transbaikalia

IL-76 aircraft of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations have been involved in extinguishing fires in the Trans-Baikal Territory. This was announced on April 27 by the press service of the department.

"Today, aircraft were used to eliminate a fire in the vicinity of the village of Elizavetino in the Chita region, which operates on an area of 140 hectares, 6 km from the settlement," the report says.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, aviation performed four drains and dumped 168 thousand liters of water. The threat of fire spreading towards the settlement was prevented.

Earlier, on April 25, it was reported that since the beginning of wildfires in the Trans-Baikal Territory, the Ministry of Emergency Situations has protected 30 settlements from the passage of fire. The ministry added that experts were able to eliminate the flame on 52 hectares and stop its spread in the village of Zhireken. In addition, the staff of the Ministry of Emergency Situations also protected the village of Zelenoe Ozero from fire.
