- The WSJ reported Iceland's plans to resume EU accession talks due to the United States

Iceland is considering the possibility of resuming negotiations on joining the European Union (EU) and strengthening the country's national defense against the background of US policy towards Greenland. This was reported on April 27 by The Wall Street Journal.
"Icelanders are discussing whether they need to be more active in defense and whether they should resume negotiations on joining the EU, which they interrupted in 2013," the article says.
According to the WSJ, changes in Iceland's political course are taking place against the backdrop of threats by US President Donald Trump to include Greenland in the United States.
Earlier, on March 30, Greenland's Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen said that the United States would not get the island into its own hands. Nielsen urged Greenlanders not to be afraid of Trump's statements, but to respond to them with calmness, dignity and unity.
