Alexey Petrovich, the leader of the organizing committee of the Moldovan opposition bloc Pobeda, told Izvestia on April 27 about his detention without explanation on departure from Chisinau airport.

Petrovich said that he was examined for the first time about two weeks ago when returning from Russia. The politician's personal belongings, documents and bank cards were checked, after which they handed over a protocol stating three reasons for the inspection: checking the legality of his stay in Moldova, the authenticity of documents and baggage.

He clarified that a similar situation had occurred during the departure from the country on April 27. Petrovich's name was already on a special list for inspection, after which he was again taken to a separate room to check his personal belongings. The reasons for the detention were not announced.

"I don't quite understand what they're trying to achieve. Maybe they expect me to start transporting some prohibited items, but I've never transported anything prohibited and have no such plans. Maybe they're trying to intimidate me in this way. Maybe this is some kind of "Chinese warning" so that I stop doing my public work," Petrovich clarified.

Petrovich's arrest at Chisinau airport was reported earlier in the day. Later, the leader of the organizing committee of the Pobeda bloc said that he had been released and allowed to leave the country. At the same time, according to him, the police did not indicate the grounds for his additional check in the protocol based on its results.
