India conducted missile test launches amid tensions with Pakistan

The Indian Navy has conducted test launches of anti-ship missiles amid escalating tensions with Pakistan. This was announced on April 27 by the press service of the Indian Navy.

"The ships conducted successful multiple anti—ship firings to test and demonstrate the readiness of platforms, systems and crew for high-precision long-range offensive strikes," reads a statement posted on the Navy's X social network page. Twitter).

The tests took place against the background of the aggravation of the situation between India and Pakistan after the terrorist attack on April 22 in the city of Pahalgam, located in the mountainous Anantnag region of the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The Territory is under Indian control, but it is claimed by Pakistan.

On April 26, it became known about a new exchange of fire between India and Pakistan on the border line in the Kashmir Valley. The Pakistani military is on high alert after the Indian authorities announced the persecution of the terrorists who staged the shooting in Pahalgam.

In connection with the terrorist attack, on April 25, the Indian Foreign Ministry issued a statement on the decision to suspend the 1960 Indus River Treaty and cut off the supply of water from its stream to Pakistan. At the same time, the Indian authorities announced the suspension of the issuance of visas for Pakistani citizens.

On April 27, the Russian Embassy in India recommended that Russians refrain from traveling to Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh due to the growing tension in Indian-Pakistani relations.
