There were no military goods at the Shahid Rajai seaport in Bandar Abbas, southern Iran, where the explosion occurred. This was officially announced by the Iranian Ministry of Defense on April 27.
"There was no military cargo in the port of Rajai. After an investigation and examination of the documents, it was established that there were no imported or exported military goods in the area of the fire," the Tasnim agency's Telegram channel said in a statement.
The country's Defense Ministry noted that the foreign media "made a fuss" about this. Later, all the "main and secondary causes of the accident" at the port will be made public, the Iranian Defense Ministry assured.
Earlier this day, Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a telegram to Iranian President Masoud Peseshkian and the country's supreme leader Ali Khamenei, expressing condolences in connection with the explosion. The Head of State also stated the readiness of the Russian Federation to provide all necessary assistance to combat the consequences of the incident.
The explosion at the Shahid Rajai seaport occurred on Saturday, April 26. The blast wave was so strong that it severely damaged most of the buildings in the port, as well as cars. 28 people became victims of the incident, 1139 more were injured. The New York Times newspaper later named the cause of the explosion in the Iranian port as a substance for rocket fuel. There is no exact information about the causes of the explosion in Shahid Rajai yet.
On the morning of April 27, the Governor of Hormozgan, Mohammad Ashuri, declared three days of general mourning in connection with the tragedy.
