Vancouver police officials said that hitting a car into a crowd during a street festival, which killed several people, was not a terrorist act. This was reported on April 27 on the official account of the police on social networks.

"At the moment, we are confident that this incident was not an act of terrorism," the police said in a message on the social network X (ex. Twitter)

The incident occurred on the evening of April 26 during the celebration of the Philippine Lapu-Lapu Day. The driver of the car was detained. The Canadian Global News channel, citing sources, reported that at least eight people were killed in the incident, including a child, and six others were injured.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney expressed his condolences to the relatives of those injured and killed when a car hit a crowd of people at the festival.
