The State Duma told about the laws coming into force in May

In May, a number of laws will come into force in Russia, including those aimed at countering fraud and protecting personal data. This was reported on the website of the State Duma on April 27.
One of the laws will strengthen control over the activities of foreign agents, as well as those who have left the country. It is noted that "traitors who have fled abroad will not be able to escape justice." In this case, judges will conduct proceedings without their participation under 20 criminal articles (the law came into force on April 21).
New anti-fraud regulations will also be introduced starting in May. According to the law, credit institutions will be required to develop documents to prevent the conclusion of loan agreements without the voluntary consent of the client.
In addition, the protection of personal data will be strengthened, and fines for leaking personal information of citizens will increase significantly. For companies that repeat this violation, the fines will become negotiable and amount to up to 3% of revenue.
On April 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law recognizing as foreign agents those who assist international organizations in which the Russian Federation does not participate. The head of state also signed a law that prohibits foreign agents from holding positions in the governing bodies of state corporations.
The Federation Council at its plenary session on April 16 also approved a law establishing a complete ban on foreign agents from carrying out educational and educational activities in Russia, regardless of the age of students.
