Two French citizens threw three explosive bottles into the territory of the diplomatic mission, two of them exploded. The Russian Embassy in the country reported that no one was injured in the explosion.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted that the incident had all the signs of a terrorist attack. She later stated that the attack on the diplomatic mission was due to Paris's incitement of hatred towards Moscow.
On February 27, the court sentenced the perpetrators to eight months in prison with the possibility of serving their sentences under house arrest with an electronic bracelet, and they cannot own or carry weapons for five years. Later, the Consul General of the Russian Federation in Marseille, Stanislav Oransky, expressed disagreement with the court's decision.
