Three days of mourning have been declared in Iran after an explosion occurred at the Shahid Rajai port in Bandar Abbas, killing 18 people and injuring more than 800 residents. This was reported on April 27 by the IRIB state television channel.

"After the explosion at the Shahid Rajai port, which killed 18 people, the governor of Hormozgan, Mohammad Ashuri, declared three days of general mourning," the media reports.

The explosion at the Shahid Rajai seaport occurred on Saturday, April 26. The blast wave was so strong that it severely damaged most of the buildings in the port, as well as cars. The Russian Embassy in Iran expressed its condolences in connection with the explosion. The New York Times newspaper later named the cause of the explosion in the Iranian port as a substance for rocket fuel.
