A criminal case has been opened in the Kamchatka Territory against a man who started shooting at police officers while hiding from a carjacking chase. This was announced on April 27 by the regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

"In the evening of April 26, a 46-year—old man who unlawfully took possession of his ex-wife's car was hiding in a car from the police officers chasing him," the agency said in a Telegram channel.

Through coordinated actions, traffic police officers forced the hijacker to stop in the courtyard of a house in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. After getting out of the car, he shot at least six times at the police, not wanting to be detained.

A criminal case has been opened under Article 317 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Encroachment on the life of law enforcement officers"). The man is detained, the issue of his arrest is being resolved.

On March 23, in the village of Shemetovo, Moscow region, a man attacked a police officer with a knife. The officers approached the passerby after he had behaved suspiciously while standing at one of the houses, showed their IDs and asked the man to produce identification documents. As a result, he was rude and stabbed one of the employees several times, after which he disappeared. The victim was taken to a medical facility.
