On April 27, the Department for the organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation told what you need to pay attention to in order not to become a victim of a deepfake.

Experts said that it is necessary to pay attention to human speech and facial expressions. So, unnatural intonation and robotic speech may be indicators that the video is a deepfake. In this case, it is recommended to contact the person to verify his identity, to make sure that he was not used by fraudsters in a fake video, the agency told TASS.

In addition, rare blinking, lip movement out of sync with speech, and unnatural movements may also indicate deepfake, she added."Газета.ги ".

The department noted that unusual requests should also alert. Attackers most often generate video and audio files with a deepfake of a familiar person who asks for money after his account has been hacked.

At the same time, fraudulent schemes use celebrity deepfakes, for example, to advertise games on social networks or involve people in investment activities. At the same time, people are promised easy earnings, but when they click on the links they send, they lose their savings.

Dmitry Kryukov, head of the MTS Link machine learning department, spoke to Izvestia on April 18 about ways to distinguish a live person from a fake via video communication. Thus, fake people are distinguished from real people in video conferencing by unnatural movements and slow reactions. The blurriness of the image, its poor quality, and the micro-fluctuations in color also indicate a fake video.
