Dismissal after 40 years can be a severe blow to the wallet and self-esteem, but the career does not end there, because employees of this age are often experienced and more in demand among employers. This was announced on April 27 by Valentina Kurenkova, Director of Interaction with government Agencies at Netologiya and head of the GR department of the Association for Innovations in Education of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

"There are still 20 years of career ahead, and specialists of this age can be just as in demand as 30-year-olds. The silver age today is 60+, and 40 is a mature stage when a person already has experience, but still has a lot of energy and flexibility," Kurenkova said in an interview withГазетой.ги ".

According to her, employees aged 40+ have the ability to introspect, high loyalty and managerial skills, due to which employers pay more attention to them. She added that dismissal does not mean the end of a career, but on the contrary, it is a turning point for further growth. People should not panic and rush, they need to take a break, adjust their sleep patterns and only then choose a new job.

In addition, Kurenkova said that after dismissal, it is necessary to check the fulfillment by the employer of all duties, such as paying salaries and vacation pay, and, if necessary, seek legal assistance. The specialist clarified that, if necessary, a person can improve their skills in a matter of months and qualify for a large salary.

"The next step is to figure out your desires and capabilities. Should I keep the same direction or change the sphere? This is a question that experts can ask themselves at any stage of their careers today. The labor market is changing, and almost every industry requires constant updating of skills. This means that retraining is not "something extra", but a necessity," the expert said.

In addition, Kurenkova added that at the moment there is a shortage of personnel in many industries, so a person with experience and a good work history has a better chance of getting a job than a young specialist. The expert also advised employees to take their time and consider the possibilities of self-employment and freelancing, since opening their own business or changing their schedule can relieve stress and provide an opportunity to successfully earn in any direction.

Oksana Semenova, head of the Financial Institutions practice and career consultant at CORNERSTONE, informed Izvestia on April 19 that relationships with a direct supervisor play a key role in job satisfaction. At the same time, negative statements by the boss can affect the atmosphere in the team. According to her, people who are faced with negativity should not respond with aggression.
