Carney pointed to Trump's betrayal over the trade war against Canada

American leader Donald Trump betrayed Canada because he launched a trade war that is destroying the global economy against his closest neighbor, Canada. This statement was made by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on April 26.
"The trade war has destroyed the global economy, and he [Trump] has betrayed Canada, America's neighbor, closest friend, and most loyal ally," Carney said.
According to him, Canadians consider a trade standoff to be a bad idea, but they are ready to respond to it. The Prime Minister compared the trade war to hockey and noted that Canada, as in sports, would defeat the United States.
"The United States is not Canada, and Canada will never be a part of it. <...> I know that as America moves away from global affairs, Canada will be a world leader," Carney concluded.
On April 25, YouGov reported that 50% of Canadians called the relationship between Ottawa and Washington the most pressing problem for the country. According to the survey, this is the highest result.
On April 7, Canada filed a complaint with the World Trade Organization (WTO) over US duties on cars and spare parts. According to the report, Ottawa argues that the measures are incompatible with Washington's responsibilities under various provisions of the 1994 General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade.
