Kovalchuk spoke about the uniqueness of the Polytechnic Museum

On April 26, Mikhail Kovalchuk, President of the Kurchatov Institute National Research Center (NRC), noted the unique role of the Polytechnic Museum in the history of Russian science and technology.
"This is the world's first polytechnic museum. Besides being the world's first polytechnic museum, it is the largest polytechnic museum in the world. We have more than two hundred thousand real full—scale exhibits," Kovalchuk told reporters.
He recalled that the museum appeared after the successful industrial exhibition of 1872, which was held in the Alexander Garden next to the Kremlin. The exhibition attracted about 750,000 people and became the basis for the creation of two institutions at once — the Historical Museum and the Polytechnic Museum, whose buildings were built in the center of Moscow.
The President of the Kurchatov Institute also congratulated on the opening of the first branch of the Polytechnic Museum in Veliky Novgorod.
Earlier, on April 24, Kovalchuk said that the experience of manufacturing and using advanced domestic technologies should be transferred from the defense sector to the civilian one. He stressed that the use of foreign technologies makes some areas vulnerable. According to him, it is necessary to create a fully independent nuclear and ship complex in Russia, as well as the housing and communal services sector.
