Zakharova told about the tears of joy in her family after the liberation of the Kursk region

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on April 26 that all members of her family met the news of the liberation of the Kursk region from Ukrainian militants with tears of joy in their eyes.

According to the Foreign Ministry's spokeswoman, she and her family followed the news from the region every day and prayed for its residents.

"With tears of joy in our eyes, our whole family greeted the news of the liberation of the Kursk region! <...> Thank God! Easter joy of the rebirth of peace in the Kursk region," Zakharova said in her Telegram channel.

On April 26, the head of the Russian General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, reported on the liberation of the last Kursk village of Gornal from the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to him, the total losses of the Ukrainian army in the Kursk area amounted to more than 76 thousand people. The Head of State congratulated and thanked the personnel of the military units of the Russian Armed Forces who took part in the defeat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region.

On the same day, units of the 22nd Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 44th Army Corps of the North group of forces planted the Russian flag in Gornala. The Russian Defense Ministry also released footage from the settlement, showing the operational work of units to liberate the territory from Ukrainian militants.
