Dmitry Bakanov, Director General of Roscosmos, intends to hold talks with the heads of the space agencies of China, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), India, Egypt, South Africa and Brazil as part of a meeting of the heads of the space agencies of the BRICS countries, the state corporation reported on April 26.

The meeting will be held in Brazil from April 27 to April 29. During it, issues of remote sensing of the Earth will be discussed.

"As part of the event, he (Bakanov. — ed.) will speak at five key sessions devoted to topical issues of space activities. The head of Roscosmos will also hold a series of talks with the leadership of the space agencies of China, the United Arab Emirates, India, Egypt, South Africa, and Brazil," the Roscosmos website says.

The heads of space agencies will have to submit their proposals on this issue by the 30th UN Climate Change Conference. At the next sessions, the meeting will discuss the problem of asymmetry between the space agencies of the BRICS countries. Bakanov will come up with a number of initiatives in the field of space science, education and technology, the state corporation said.

On February 18, Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed the former head of Roscosmos, Yuri Borisov, as his special representative for international cooperation in the field of space. Borisov left the position of CEO of Roscosmos on February 6. Dmitry Bakanov, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Transport, was appointed in his place.

On March 31, Bakanov named the top priorities in his post, including the completion of the national space project and attracting private investors. He also reported to the President on strategic plans for the development of the space program.
