The arson of the grave of Izvestia correspondent Alexander Fedorchak and veterans of the special operation at the cemetery in the Nizhnegorsky district of the Republic of Crimea was carried out by a local resident, he confessed to the crime. This was announced on April 26 by Olga Postnova, the official representative of the Crimean headquarters of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

"The involvement of a resident of the Nizhnegorsky district of the Republic of Crimea in the arson of the grave of Izvestia war correspondent Alexander Fedorchak and soldiers of the SVO at the cemetery of the Uvarovsky rural settlement has been established. <...> He confessed," she said.

The discovery of the suspect at the arson site became known based on the results of a DNA examination. The defendant told the investigators in detail about the circumstances of the crime during the verification of his confessions.
