The German authorities have no right to prohibit the Russian Ambassador to Germany, Sergei Nechaev, from participating in events in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Victory. This was announced on April 24 by the leader of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party in the Saxony parliament, Joerg Urban.

"During the Second World War, the Red Army paid the greatest price in blood. How the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs can advise against allowing representatives from the Russian Federation to attend commemorative events dedicated to the Second World War is completely incomprehensible to me," he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

He also pointed out that the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, relies on the leader of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN, banned in the Russian Federation), Stepan Bandera.

"The history experts of our Ministry of Foreign Affairs should inform the political leadership in Berlin that the Zelensky government in Ukraine, which they support, relies on leaders such as Stepan Bandera and Roman Shukhevych, who, like racist murderers, are responsible for the worst acts committed against Jews, Poles and Germans," he added. Him.

On April 16, Niels—Olaf Luders, a member of the Brandenburg Landtag and head of the Sarah Wagenknecht Union for Reason and Justice (BSW) faction, said that the German Foreign Ministry's call not to invite Russian representatives to commemorative events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II was absolutely unacceptable.
