The police reported details of an accident involving 16 cars near Gatchina.

The police have launched an investigation into a massive accident involving 16 cars near Gatchina, the Interior Ministry of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region reported on April 26.
It was established that the accident occurred at 23:10 on the 45th km of the Kiev highway in the Gatchina district on the highway in the direction of Pskov.
"The driver of the foreign car lost control for an unknown reason and drove into a guardrail. The driver moving behind him did not react in time to the formed obstacle, and hit a stopped car, after which other cars of road users began to join them, colliding with each other," the department's Telegram channel reported.
Two men were seriously injured in the incident: a 30-year-old Volvo S80 driver and a 22-year-old Kia Ceed driver. The first was hospitalized with moderate injuries. The second man is in serious condition in intensive care, doctors are fighting for his life. Two women also suffered minor injuries.
On the morning of April 26, a source from Izvestia reported that more than 10 cars collided in the Leningrad Region, and three people were injured. Presumably, the cause of the accident is the drivers' failure to observe the distance. According to preliminary information, the man who was admitted to the intensive care unit was under the influence of drugs. The condition of the other passengers is satisfactory, the source added.
