The Msta-S self-propelled gun crew destroyed the AFU UAV control point in the special operation zone

The calculation of the self-propelled artillery installation (ACS) 2S19 "Msta-S" of the Center group of forces destroyed the control point for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), located in a dilapidated building, in the Red Army area of the special operation. This was announced by the Russian Defense Ministry on April 26.

"We are firing in the western direction. <...>. We are hitting both the enemy's manpower and equipment, and we are carrying out assigned combat missions that come from above. Our calculations work smoothly, so there are no special difficulties. Our unit also has tasks such as supporting infantry forces. That is, to advance our infantry, we hit the enemy's manpower, its strongholds and equipment," said Danil Kopeikin, the division's head of intelligence.

Having received the coordinates of the target from the reconnaissance units and UAV operators, the soldiers of the ACS calculation, being in a camouflaged firing position, aimed the combat vehicle at the target and destroyed the command post of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with 152-millimeter ammunition.

"We receive a target, then a command to the gun, we jump into it. We are given coordinates, we aim and fire a shot, hitting the target. There are 50-60 shots a day. It depends on the workload, how the operational work on the front line is going," said senior gunner Vladislav Lomakin.

Fire correction and target damage control were performed by calculations of reconnaissance drones. Upon completion of the combat mission, the servicemen disguised the combat vehicle and took refuge in a dugout.

"We are working on the ACS 2S19. We were lucky that the equipment is new, 2023, it shows itself without failures in battle, it did not let us down. <...> We worked on fortified areas, on enemy manpower, on tracked vehicles, Abrams and Leopard, quite successfully," said Maxim Lavrenov, commander of the cannon.

During combat operations, military personnel pay great attention to the camouflage of combat vehicles and maintain constant control over the airspace. Artillery crews have been performing a wide range of firing tasks since the first day of the special operation, such as defeating areas of concentration of manpower and equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, command posts and observation posts, covering the actions of ground forces and conducting counter-battery warfare, the department noted.
