A sharp cold snap to March temperatures is expected over the weekend in the European part of Russia, and on Monday, April 28, night frosts of up to -5 degrees are forecast. This was announced on April 26 by the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of the Russian Federation Roman Vilfand.

"Since Saturday, there has been a significant drop in temperature, and air masses will already be moving from more northern regions, so a sharp drop in temperature is expected in almost the entire European territory (of Russia. — Ed.)," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Vilfand said that rain and sleet are forecast for Saturday in the Northwestern Federal District, while temperatures in Central Russia are expected to be in the range of 0...+5 at night and +5 in the afternoon...+10 degrees.

"On Sunday, a further decrease in temperature will lead to the fact that in Moscow it will be around 0 at night, in the region — up to -3, in the afternoon — +3...+8 degrees... Light rain, light sleet and increased winds," the meteorologist added.

He also stressed that on April 28, night frosts are forecast in the European part of Russia — temperatures in the range of -1... -3 degrees, and in the Moscow region — up to -5. This weather will correspond to the end of March, and the temperature will drop 6-7 degrees below normal, Vilfand added.
