American leader Donald Trump is ready to withdraw from negotiations on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict next week if Kiev refuses to sign the agreement, while the US administration's plan provides for Russia to retain control over the liberated territories. This was reported on April 25 by The Times newspaper, citing sources.

"Trump is threatening to withdraw from the peace process next week if a deal is not agreed," the newspaper said.

According to the source, the American leader believes that the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, "really has no choice" but to sign the proposed agreement. It is specified that one of the requirements of the United States is Kiev's recognition of Crimea and areas of eastern and southern Ukraine as territories of Russia.

"The deal on the table is that the territory acquired by Russia will remain Russian. The Russian Federation is not going to change this, this part is set in stone," the newspaper quoted a source close to Trump's special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff.

In addition, the publication added that if the Ukrainian government rejects the deal, the conflict will continue for years. At the same time, the people of Europe will oppose the support of Kiev, as this will bring great costs to the states.

Trump said on the same day that Zelensky understood that Crimea would remain part of Russia. Also, according to the American leader, Ukraine is unlikely to ever join NATO and, in general, "Ukraine's desire to join the alliance led to the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine," he stressed.
