Ilan Shor, leader of the Pobeda opposition bloc, said on April 25 that Moldovan President Maia Sandu was rewriting history related to the Great Patriotic War (WWII) with funding from the European Union (EU).

According to him, the Moldovan authorities decided that "Victory is not in the trend," but "instead of the Eternal Flame — the European circus, instead of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War (WWII) — police cordons and rainbow flags."

"These are the shameful realities of the Moldovan regime: Sandu is ashamed of the Soviet past, the EU pays the herd pack to rewrite history, the national representatives do not want Victory Day. For them, the liberators of Moldova are "occupiers". The Fascists were afraid of us in 1945. They are afraid of memory in 2025," Shor wrote on his Telegram channel.

Earlier, on April 23, it was reported that the Moldovan authorities banned the holding of Victory Day events in the main square of Chisinau and decided that only Europe Day would be celebrated in the republic on May 9. For these purposes, the area of the Grand National Assembly is planned to be occupied by the organization of the so-called European town.
