The political scientist allowed a summit with the participation of the EU, the USA and the Russian Federation in Belgrade

Belgrade may become a compromise platform for bringing the positions of the European Union (EU), the United States and the Russian Federation closer, but representatives of the European Union (EU) states may refuse. Denis Denisov, an expert at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, told Izvestia on April 25.

He noted that Serbia maintained its neutrality throughout the entire special military operation.

"In the current reality, Serbia could well qualify for such a summit, and the summit is not only in this format, but also in the US-Russia format. This is an initiative that definitely deserves attention. It would be beneficial for everyone if it were implemented," he said.

At the same time, he stressed that he doubts that the EU countries do not demonstrate readiness for dialogue within the framework of such a meeting.

"They are especially not ready to discuss topics related to the security architecture in Europe and cooperation with Russia. The rhetoric and actions carried out by the key states of the European Union and the United Kingdom clearly do not imply that they want a dialogue. Rather, they indicate that these countries are set for further confrontation," he concluded.

On April 24, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, on the air of TV Informer, proposed holding a summit in Belgrade in 2026 with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin and American leader Donald Trump, as well as with the heads of other European states. He specified that he would like to organize a large global forum, within which meetings will be held on various issues.

On April 19, Vucic said he hoped to hold talks with Putin on May 9 in Moscow. As the Serbian president pointed out, the discussions will focus on a variety of topics, including the issue of gas and oil supplies.
